MBACP (Accred.), ACC (Accred.), BA (hons), Dip. Counselling, level 5 Cert. Integrating Creative Interventions, Dip. Supervision. Qualified PICT Practitioner
I began my training at West Kent College where I successfully completed the certificate in counselling skills in 2003. I then went on to Waverley Abbey to do the CWR Diploma in Counselling, which I completed in 2005. The CWR approach to counselling is one that integrates aspects from other styles; Psychodynamic, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and Spiritually Attuned Counselling within a Christian framework.
Even though I have been trained in this way of working, being integrative acknowledges that different things suit different people and so I also draw on elements of Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and at a very fundamental level, Person Centred Therapy. I have a BA (hons) in Art and Design and am happy to work creatively should this be of therapeutic value.
Ongoing training is part of the BACP and ACC Ethical Framework so since qualifying I have completed the Parks Inner Child Therapy Diploma (PICT) and am a qualified PICT practitioner. I am also a qualified supervisor.
I see successful counselling coming from the foundation of a relationship that feels safe and trusting. From this basis my client and I can journey together towards restoration and resolution.
